What is an AFORE?
AFORE (Administradora de Fondos para el Retiro) is an individual retirement account in Mexico. Monthly contributions are made by you, your employer, and the Mexican government to help build savings for your retirement.
Although the system was designed for Mexican workers, foreign employees who were registered with the IMSS (Mexican Social Security Institute) also accumulated these funds automatically.
