INFONAVIT informs that employers must pay their workers’ credits as of September 2025, in terms of the amendment to article 29 of the INFONAVIT law.

The Board of Directors of the Instituto del Fondo Nacional de la Vivienda para los Trabajadores, (“INFONAVIT”), by means of resolution number RCA-14500-03/25, established that employers must determine, make and pay the discounts to their employees’ salaries that are destined to the payment of credits to cover loans granted by the Institute, starting with the payment of salaries corresponding to the 4th two-month period of 2025; that is, those corresponding to the months of July and August, which must be made no later than September 17, 2025.

In this regard, the press release through which the resolution was made public indicates that the aforementioned term is granted in order to provide a reasonable time period for the transition in the implementation of the reform to Article 29 of the INFONAVIT Law.

In this manner, the aforementioned legal provision establishes that discounts to workers to cover loans granted by INFONAVIT (amortization of credits) due to absences or disabilities issued by the Social Security will not be suspended; therefore, employers must cover these discounts.

It should be noted that the amendment to Article 29 of the INFONAVIT Law came into effect on February 22, 2025, and therefore this type of criteria does not have binding effects and does not constitute an official standard.

As a result of the above, the social security team of Vega, Guerrero & Asociados is ready to advise companies that require information on this subject.
