Senator Geovanna Bañuelos (PT) and Senator Luis Donaldo Colosio (MC) presented an initiative to amend the Federal Labor Law and establish the right of workers to five working days of paid bereavement leave in the event of the death of a first-degree relative (parents, children, siblings or spouse/cohabitant).
The initiative has already been unanimously approved by the Labor and Social Welfare Committee, and is pending the opinion of the Legislative Studies Committee, First, prior to its discussion in the Plenary of the Senate.
If approved, this leave must be granted immediately, without affecting the employee’s rights or salary.
