Reform of the Federal Labor Law on Minimum Wage

Today was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, a reform to the Federal Labor Law in its article 90, through which, it is established that “the annual setting of minimum wages, or the revision of them, will never be below the inflation observed during the period of its validity elapsed”.

In that sense, it is worth mentioning that in Mexico, every year, during December, the National Minimum Wage Commission (CONASAMI), a tripartite body, that is to say, with representatives of the government, the workers through the unions and the employers, meet to set the minimum salary that should govern during the following year.

Therefore, through said reform, the obligation is established for CONASAMI to take its corresponding resolutions, having as a minimum basis, the inflation that has been generated in the country during that year.
