Marco Antonio Tena López leads the Intellectual Property, Personal Data Protection, and Regulatory Compliance practice at Vega Guerrero Asociados, a practice he developed from the ground up within the firm, drawing on his experience at law firms specializing in these areas. He offers comprehensive advice on the management, protection, and defense of intangible assets—trademarks, patents, copyrights, and designations of origin—as well as assistance with regulatory compliance for companies in the Fintech, real estate, and pharmaceutical industries.
Her primary areas of expertise include representing clients in administrative litigation before the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property, the Federal Court of Administrative Justice, federal courts, and the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, as well as the recovery of domain names through proceedings before the WIPO. She regularly advises on opposition, invalidity, and infringement proceedings, as well as on the negotiation of coexistence and licensing agreements.
Personal data protection is another of the firm’s areas of expertise, where it advises companies at on the design and structuring of their information and personal data protection programs, as well as on their operational implementation, and represents them in administrative litigation before the Secretariat for Anti-Corruption and Good Governance.
In addition, Marco Antonio has experience overseeing Fintech financial institutions at Banco de México, and has worked at international law firms on matters related to mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate finance, and antitrust law, having participated in complex transactions and the structuring of multi-million financing deals.
He has spoken at forums on artificial intelligence, intellectual property, and regulation. He is member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the Inter-American Intellectual Property Association.
